Winter Cover Removal Options

mesh coverRemove & fold mesh pool cover – $85

These covers are manufactured by such companies as Loop-Loc, Meyco, Merlin, McEwen Industries, etc. They are made of green or blue mesh material and are custom manufactured to fit the contours of the pool. The mesh material allows water to drain through the cover during the Winter months. It also allows for sunlight to enter the pool so chemical testing and treatment is necessary in the early Spring to keep the pool water from turning green. These covers are held in place by stainless steel springs attached to brass deck anchors that are permanently installed in the pool’s deck. The original manufacturer provided  a large mesh storage bag made of the same material as the cover. It will allow the cover to drain and properly dry while in storage. We will remove and fold the cover and place it in the storage bag for so it is ready for use in the Fall. We will also thread down all of the brass deck anchors so they are flush with the deck for the Summer months.

bag coverRemove & fold solid pool cover with water bags – $85

These pool covers are made from a woven polyethylene material. They resemble a large over sized tarp and are held in place by water bags. These covers are great for keeping out leaves and debris over the Winter and will keep the water fairly clean in the early Spring by keeping sunlight from entering the pool. Keeping out sunlight prevents algae from growing providing there are no holes, tears or rips in the cover. Holes in the cover will allow the contaminated water on top of the cover to mix with the clean pool water underneath. All the water on top of the cover must be pumped off before the cover can be removed. This includes removing all of the leaves and other debris from the top of the cover also. The $85 price is for removing and folding a dry cover and rolling up all the water bags. Water pumping and leaf removal is not included and is priced at $60 per hour. Your best option is to get a small cover pump that you attach to a garden hose and pump the water off the cover at your leisure. Just make sure there are no major holes in the Winter cover or you will be pumping the pool water out along with the cover water.

solid coverRemove & fold custom fit solid pool cover – $125

These top of the line covers are manufactured by such companies as Anchor, Loop-Loc, Meyco, Merlin, etc. They are made of heavy duty solid polyethylene material and are custom made to fit the contours of the pool. These covers will not allow water or sunlight to enter the pool. They are held in place by bungie cord style straps or stainless steel springs attached to brass deck anchors that are permanently installed in the pool’s deck. Some solid safety covers have a mesh drain screen in the center of the cover to allow rain water to drain. Covers without a drain must be pumped off whenever possible to prevent the weight of the rain water from damaging it. These covers are stored in a large mesh bag that will allow the cover to drain and properly dry while in storage. We will remove and fold the cover and place it in the storage bag for so it is ready for use in the Fall. We will also thread down all of the brass deck anchors so they are flush with the deck for the Summer months.

  Other Pool Opening Services

spa

Reassemble and start attached spa (Jacuzzi) – add $35

This service is for pools that have an attached spa that is built into your in-ground pool. These spas are sometimes referred to as Jacuzzis. They are found on most high end pools built by Anthony Sylvan, B&B Pools, Carlton Pools and Monogram Pools. They are mainly a feature of in-ground plaster and concrete pools although we have had a few vinyl pools that had them installed.

Swimming Pool Heater

Reassemble and start pool heater – add $35

Cooler weather outside doesn’t mean you have to delay opening your swimming pool. With proper maintenance of your pool’s heater, your swimming season can be extended by several weeks. Atlantis Pool Service will reassemble and test fire your pool’s heater for $35. This fee only covers the reassembly and test fire of the heater and does not cover trouble shooting, repair or parts if it decides not to fire up in the Spring. No major repairs to the heater will be performed without your prior approval. There will be no charge if your pool has a heater but you don’t use it. Just let us know when you schedule your opening that you don’t use it.

fall-leaf

Remove leaves and pump water off solid cover – $75 per hour

This fee won’t apply to our customers that have mesh safety covers. This is for our customers who have custom solid covers and solid covers with water bags. You can avoid this fee by pumping the cover off before we arrive to open your pool. You can buy a cover pump at your local pool store, attach a garden hose, plug it in and start pumping. Just make sure there are no holes in your cover or you will pump out the pool water along with the cover water. Allow the leaves and other debris on the top of the cover to dry and then you can scoop them out with a deep leaf net.

Here is the cover pump we recommend: Little Giant 5-MSP.

Here is the leaf net we recommend: Pro Grade 18″ Inch Pool Leaf Net.
